Size: 10m x 5m x 3m

Location: Bibliothèque Marc-Favreau, Montreal

Client: City of Montreal

Produced in collaboration with Eric Dupras and Isabelle Leblanc from Noème Architects.

I wanted to create a work of art that was as playful with form as Sol was with words. We took the stars from the inside of his clown jacket as the starting point to create a flowing sculptural abstraction of Sol, a floating body made out of twenty-two flat panels, each printed with enlargements of watercolour paintings. My own parents were clowns, so I felt an affinity for Sol even though I did not grow up with him as many Quebecers did. As an artist I am also very pleased with the way my work interacts with the innovative yet understated architecture of the new library.
